Fraction strips, ten-frames, blocks - we look for any way we can to make math come to life. Colorcade is a tool for young students to create colorful artwork and stories as part of math activities. Run class activities in which the students use iPads or Chromebooks in the classroom to create stories that visually model the math. Colorcade has been used to help teach math subjects like distributive property, skip counting and fractions. The best part about using this program in the classroom is that the teacher has a screen that shows all of the student boards on the computer. The students connect to the teacher's board, which allows the teacher to see the student's progress in real time! This view also allows the teacher to share a student's board to the whole class by projecting from the teacher computer. This program has changed the way that students create and learn in the classroom and the teacher does not need to spend time passing out math manipulatives! Come take a look in the playground and watch the students create with Colorcade!
